Actions Taken by the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses at its November 5-6 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses held its bi-monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 5 and Thursday, November 6, 2008.

The Board voted to accept the following Public Consent Orders for probationary licensure:

• Tamaraqua Enos, Warner Robins
• Perry Howell,  Nicholson
• Galedria Mbah, Douglasville
• Brandi McCall, Sale City
• Melodie Vance, Commerce

The Board voted on the following matters:

• Jeff K. Carpenter, Applicant: The Board denied his petition for waiver of Rule 400-2-.02(3) because applicant failed to graduate from an approved nursing program under O.C.G.A. 43-26-36(c).
• Renatha Telfer; Applicant: The Board denied her petition for waiver of Rule 400-2-.05 (6) because applicant did not meet eligibility requirements and did not pass the NCLEX-pn examination within 5 years of graduation from a nursing program.
• Kaplan Higher Education, Bauder College: The Board deferred a decision regarding waiver of Rule 400-3-.02(1)(h) until legal counsel has opportunity to research additional rules which may require waiver request.

The following licenses were suspended because licensees defaulted on their student loans:

• Sylvia D. Gilchrist, Hephzibah
• Vernice M. Gay, Metter

The Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical will hold their next meeting Monday, February 18 through Wednesday, February 20, 2009 at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
