Secretary of State Handel appoints General Counsel Secretary of State Karen Handel announced the appointment of Wesley B. Tailor to General Counsel today. As General Counsel, Tailor will provide counsel on legal, personnel, legislative and other matters. Tailor recently served as Assistant Solicitor-General in DeKalb County, where he was responsible for the prosecution of misdemeanor crimes. Prior to that, he was an associate at Troutman Sanders, LLP, where he worked in corporate law. He received his law degree from the University of Kentucky. Tailor lives in Atlanta. “Wes brings a wealth of knowledge in, not only prosecution, but also corporate law, which is vitally important to this office,” Secretary Handel said. “He will be an important asset to our team.” Karen Handel was sworn in as Secretary of State in January 2007. The Secretary of State's office offers important services to our business community, our government, and our citizens. These services include an efficient and secure election process, and the regulation of corporations, securities, and professional license holders. The Office also controls the state archives and the Capitol museum.
